Press Release Autumn 2022
At the beginning of the new season in September, the choir welcomed 13 new members which brings the number of choristers in Millicent Singers to 45.
Following the arrival of our new members, our musical director, Alan Kelly and the committee organised a workshop to balance the sound of our choir.
The Autumn season is well under way now, the choir is working very hard, motivated, practicing as usual on Monday evenings and with extra sectional rehearsals on Wednesdays to prepare for the Christmas concert.
We will return to the Boys’ Chapel, Clongowes Wood College, Clane for our Christmas concert on Friday 9th of December at 8:30pm and Saturday 10th of December at 8 pm.
This season is special to all choir members, as we are back up and running in near normal conditions after the Covid 19 pandemic.
Last year the Christmas concerts were performed with masks, which, as one can imagine, wasn’t easy. Needless to say, being back singing without masks in rehearsal has been really welcomed by all members.
This year Millicent Singers is pleased to welcome a Soloist – Leah Barniville, Soprano, who has a growing reputation in the musical world.
She performed on Britain’s Got Talent, in the the Royal Albert Hall in London, the National Opera House in Wexford, the National Concert Hall and the National Convention Centre in Dublin to name just a few. She also had the honour of singing in Áras an Uachtaráin for President Michael D Higgins.
In 2021, Leah played the lead role of Maria in West Side Story in the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, Dublin.
